West Brunswick was host Saturday to the annual junior varsity and middle school wrestling tournament.
The tournament enabled middle school wrestlers to get ready for the county tournament Saturday at North Brunswick High School and it allowed junior varsity wrestlers—the future of the high school varsity teams—more matches to improve their skills.
These are the top-two finishers in each weight class in the middle school tournament:
At 80-84: 1. Gavin Bipes (South); 2. Wyatt Beatini (South).
At 98: Three Shallotte wrestlers tied for first: John Priester, Triston Williamson and Angelo Morales.
At 106: 1. Lincoln Smith (Shallotte); 2. Matthew Tippett (Shallotte).
At 112-117: Raymond Bowens (South); 2. Michael Tippett (Shallotte).
At 126: 1. Connor Gentile (Shallotte); 2. John Maggard (Shallotte).
At 138: 1. Bailey Groves (Shallotte); 2. Jacary (Shallotte).
At 141-149: Joseph Kemp (Leland); 2. Mason Espinoza (Cedar Grove).
At 152-169: Chris Golden (Shallotte); 2. James Whitesides (Cedar Grove).
At 180-202: Alex Delacruz (Shallotte); 2. Cole Britton (South Brunswick).

112: 1. Mekhi Nixon (North); 2 Kawame Matthews (West).
