A 21-year old man was arrested Saturday after he was found with a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing the previous day.

On Friday, June 4, Rachel Owens was reported missing after she did not return home from a Cedar Grove Middle School dance, according to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. April Stanley.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop at the corner of N.C. 211 and the entrance of Palmetto Creek Saturday, where deputies found Owens in the vehicle with Santos Pachos-Sarmiento, Stanley said. Owens returned home Saturday, Stanley said.

Pachos-Sarmiento, 21, of 565 Military Cutoff Road Lot 50, Wilmington, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where he remains under a $2,500 secured bond.
