A likely state reduction in the public schools budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year may cost more than 50 Brunswick County Schools employees their jobs.
Paul LeSieur, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction business services director, said the Office of State Budget and Management requested an education budget that includes a 3, 5, and 7 percent reduction in a variety of areas, including classroom teachers, teacher assistants, instructional support and literacy coaches.
