More smoking regulations are needed

The following is in response to a recent letter in a newspaper:
Yes, we all know that smoking, including second-hand smoke, is hazardous to our health. And while I honor all opinions, especially those of our veterans, non-smoking regulations are greatly needed in our communities and in all public businesses.
In numerous surveys and research, more than 75 percent, and according to some sources as much as 81 percent, of Americans do not smoke. This is a huge majority. Isn’t our country based upon the premise the majority rules?
