SHALLOTTE—Beginning in June, ATMC-TV will air its newest show, “The Coastal Kitchen.”
Karen Moshoures of Ocean Isle Beach has been named host of the new bi-monthly cooking show.
When ATMC-TV decided to expand its programming to include a cooking show, staff asked for video auditions from the community.
“We put together a commercial asking the community to send in a short video of themselves preparing their favorite dish in their kitchen and show us why they should be the new host of ‘The Coastal Kitchen,’” said Jennifer Beasley, programming/video production manager. “We took our time discussing who to select and picked three finalists. It was a close race but in the end, we think Karen is the perfect fit for our show and our community.”
A longtime resident of Brunswick County, Moshoures recently retired from a career in the eye-care industry.
Moshoures has taken courses at the Johnson & Wales Culinary School and enjoys preparing all types of cuisine. From ethnic dishes to appetizers, baking and country cooking, Moshoures’ personality and love of cooking great food will make “The Coastal Kitchen” an entertaining and savory option for television viewing.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as the new host for ‘The Coastal Kitchen,’” Moshoures said. “I look forward to bringing new recipes and ideas to your kitchen, and we are going to have a lot of fun while doing it. Everyone’s taste buds are unique, and I am going to show you ways to make your food as unique as you are, the way you like it.”
Viewers have requested a cooking show since ATMC-TV first began in 2009. A survey of viewers in 2011 yielded the same results and Beasley and staff at ATMC-TV decided the timing was right to start the new show.
“We’re really excited about this opportunity,” Beasley said. “Our very first show’s recipe is sure to please; I should know—we got the opportunity to taste it during production and what I can say is—I think our viewers are going to like it!”
“ ‘The Coastal Kitchen’ is going to be a great addition to ATMC-TV Channel 3 and I think it is exactly what our viewers are looking for,” said Kat Newton, video production associate. “We are super excited to have a show that people can interact with and be able to put in their own changes to make the dishes just how they like them. The show will air more frequently than our other shows so that are viewers are constantly getting new ideas and recipes from Karen, our host and chef.”
Food Lion will serve as the official grocery sponsor for the show with seasonal produce occasionally provided by Holden Brothers Farm Market.
