Mountain bike tour Saturday

Apparel brand Dirtball has announced the inaugural “Pedal 2 The People Tour Fueled by Monster Energy,” a three-stop regional North Carolina mountain bike series that will award a $10,000 purse and championships in five divisions.
The dates are Saturday, Brunswick Nature Park, Leland; Sept. 15, Harris Lake County Park, New Hill; Oct. 13, The Bicycle Post Trail, Greenville.
Round 1 will be at Brunswick County Nature Park in Leland. The tour this year will include a 25-mile short-track race a 35-mile cross-country race and a six-hour endure as the season finale for Pro/Expert riders. North Carolina-based Dirtball this concept as a way to highlight the talents of regionally-based mountain bikers as well as to promote the importance of mountain bike trails and environmental awareness in the Carolinas.
“Last year our 2 Piece & Biscuit Skate Tour was a huge success with over 275 entries and some truly awesome skating so we decided to branch out this fall and add a mountain bike series that will have the same fun atmosphere,” said Joe Fox, president of Dirtball. “We are very excited about this year’s tour. Fall in the Carolinas is a beautiful time of the year. We are proud to have created what will be the only Southeast mountain bike tour of its kind with this size purse and format.”
