The Myrtle Beach 400 will wait until March 22 to get the checkered flag. Rain on Sunday postponed the Southeast Limited Late Model 100 and the Myrtle Beach 400.
The racing action Saturday was highlighted by the first Dash for Cash for 100-lap feature winners this season. Five drivers made up the field for a $2,500, winner-take-all 20-lap race.
The front-row starters from the Myrtle Beach 400 qualifying were Matt Cox , who earned the pole, and second-place qualifier Tommy Lemons Jr. Race winners were Coleman Pressley; Justin Milliken, the 2011 speedway Late Model champion; and Sam Yarbrough, former winner of the 400, made up the rest of the field.
Yarbrough, driving for owner Chad McCumbee, proved he was the man who could race with the best as he went to the front and beat Cox, Pressley, Lemons and Milliken in the first Dash for Cash field to run at the track.
“I am happy with the first of these events,” track owner Bob Lutz said. “I am thinking of some new twist for the 2013 race.”
Many drivers said winning a 100-lap special event during the season can save a team $2,000 in tires for the Myrtle Beach 400.
