Needlers donate quilts

-A A +A

Saint Peter Needlers from Saint Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southport recently donated 10 large lap quilts they had knitted and crocheted for patients at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.
In 2007, the Needlers (Liz Villadsen, Irene Hennessey and Lois Beddard) began knitting and crocheting squares to make lap robes or lapghans for organizations that help others.
Carol Nord has joined them, and several other women have come and gone during the years. Each lap robe they create is assembled with 9-inch squares in various stitch patterns.
In addition to the quilts donated to Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter, the Needlers have distributed 152 lap robes to the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, 10 lap robes to Hope Harbor Home, 12 lap robes to Providence Teen Shelter, and 30 scarves for the Special Olympics and a homeless shelter.
