The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 48th Annual Awards Ceremony on April 24 in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center and among those honored was Anna Hart, named the Female Athlete of the Year.

Hart, a West Brunswick graduate, was a first team all-conference in volleyball and had been named Most Valuable Player.

More volleyball is in her future. Hart, a senior, has been selected to play in the USA Division 3 All-Star Tournament. Traveling to Brazil, Hart will begin her 10-day experience June 10.

“We will be traveling in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Rio de Janeiro for seven days, where we’ll play five contests versus Brazilian teams,” Hart said.

Hart will arrive in Brazil on June 12 and plays in her first match that evening. The team will play its last match June 17 and spend the next day sightseeing before heading home June 19.

“This will be my first time out of the country, and I couldn’t be more excited that the sport I love has led me to such a great opportunity,” she said.

Hart, an honors student Wesleyan, is a four-year letterwinner for head coach Robin Pietryk. Hart recently completed her stellar career, having led the Battling Bishops to their sixth straight 20-win season.

“I am grateful for my coaches and the ability to represent Wesleyan volleyball

overseas,” Hart said.
