The North Brunswick High School junior varsity boys’ basketball team beat South Columbus 79-51 Friday and finished as conference co-champion.
For North, Jerry Andrews and Josh White each scored 17 points and Shelton Perkins scored 15. D’Anglo Walker and Chris Graham each scored eight, Latrell Hill four, Ju-Ju Cason and Isiah Neptune three each (Neptune hit a 3-pointer) and Emmanuel Brown and Tavieon Harrison two each. Meelik Smith played but did not score. Tyler Grady, left front, is the head coach and Mike Oliver, right front, is the assistant.
The West Brunswick boy’s junior varsity beat Whiteville 39-22 Feb. 13 and finished 11-1 in the conference, clinching at least a tie for the conference championship.
For West (16-2 overall), Alex Clarida and Tyler Stanley each scored seven points. Tyquan Hill scored six points. No other Trojan scored more than four points.
A bounce pass from Stanley to Hill put West ahead 23-9 late in the first half.
In the third quarter, a steal by Stanley led to a basket, and his bounce pass to Clarida gave West a 30-14 lead.
In the fourth quarter, a pass from Stanley to Clarida led to a basket and a 35-21 lead.
Other members of the West junior varsity are Tayevonne Evans, Chase Hill, Brien Hewett, Hunter Ashburn, Shermonde Fulwood, Jakob Lammonds, Charlie Carcich, Xavier Gause, Landon Patterson, Nasir Murray and John Jordan. The coach is Jason Younts.
