BOLIVIA—Charles Overman, owner of Overman Electric Inc. in Oak Island, has been sentenced to prison for drug trafficking.

According to the district attorney’s office, Overman pleaded guilty to trafficking more than 25 pounds of marijuana in Brunswick County Superior Court on May 9. He was sentenced to a 25-month minimum mandatory sentence in the North Carolina Department of Corrections.

Overman’s case stems from an investigation by the Brunswick County Narcotics Task Force on Oak Island into the trafficking of prescription pills and marijuana. Drug agents said Overman was part of a weekly distribution network for marijuana and illicit prescription narcotics.

Agent Mark Taylor of the Oak Island Police Department was the charging officer, and Superior Court Judge Ola Lewis presided in the case.
