The youth baseball season has begun, and this season Ocean City Chevrolet is sponsoring Shallotte Dixie Youth Baseball League and the Waccamaw Athletic Association. As part of the national Chevrolet Youth Baseball program, Ocean City Chevrolet will provide new equipment to the leagues and will make a monetary contribution to each league.
In addition, there will be invitations to free instructional clinics and an opportunity for community members to enter the Chevrolet vehicle sweepstakes to have a chance to win a new 2013 Traverse or Malibu.
“Youth baseball provides positive and productive life lessons for young people across America, and the Chevrolet Youth Baseball program is an extension of Chevrolet’s commitment to baseball, community and families,” said Gary Younts, president of Ocean City Chevrolet. “Ocean City Chevrolet is bringing that same dedication to youth baseball.”
This is the eighth year for the Chevrolet Youth Baseball program. Since its introduction, it has aided local teams comprising more than 3 million youngsters. In 2012, about 1,600 Chevrolet dealers participated. Ocean City Chevrolet will present equipment kits to Shallotte Dixie Youth Baseball and to the Waccamaw Athletic Association. The kits have equipment bags, baseball buckets, practice hitting nets, umpire ball bags, batting tees and Chevrolet Youth Baseball T-shirts.
The sponsorship also includes youth clinics featuring current and former Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball players, and coaches and instructors from Ripken Baseball.
Ocean City Chevrolet will present a check representing a monetary contribution to Shallotte Dixie Youth Baseball and to the Waccamaw Athletic Association.
“Ocean City Chevrolet has been an active member of our community for 19 years, supporting athletic programs for children, civic organizations, churches and schools with donations, equipment and volunteers,” Younts said. “Ocean City Chevrolet is family owned and operated, believing that building relationships for life with the people in our community is what makes the difference in our community.”
Sponsored leagues across the country will receive 2,000 free sweepstakes entry forms to distribute within the community. At the end of the entry period, five winners, one from each region, will win their choice of either a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu or a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse. Each participating market will award a secondary prize. Chevrolet is the official vehicle of Major League Baseball.
“Chevrolet vehicles are designed and built for families, so we hope young people and their parents will consider a Chevrolet as an official vehicle of their household,” Younts said.
