SUPPLY—A man was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 17 in Supply.

Few details were immediately available, North Carolina State Highway Patrol Sgt. C.K. Parks said Tuesday. More information about the people involved was expected to be released Tuesday afternoon.

On Monday afternoon, around 3 or 4 p.m. Parks said Sarah Stephens was driving a 2008 Ford passenger vehicle south on U.S. 17. Stephens attempted to cross U.S. 17 and turn left into the Brunswick Electric Membership Corp. When she attempted to turn into the parking lot, she failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

Stephens turned in front of Debra Burns, who was driving a 2011 Ford sport utility vehicle northbound on U.S. 17.

“Ms. Stephens failed to yield, turned in front of Ms. Burns, who hit Stephens' vehicle, which led to the collision,” Parks said.

Sarah Stephens’ husband Pete Stephens, who was sitting in the front passenger vehicle, died at Brunswick Novant Medical Center from injuries sustained from the wreck, Parks said.
