One of the two unrelated house fires to which firefighters responded in Brunswick County within three days is being investigated as arson.
Firefighters were called to the first fire outside Southport just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, said Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner. Personnel from four fire departments extinguished the fire, which destroyed a vacant house behind Surf Cinemas and delayed traffic on Long Beach Road for several hours.
