The U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament is Oct. 5-6 at Southport Marina. Those planning on fishing in the tourney have until Sept. 14 to register if they want to qualify for the early bird drawings.
Two winners pulled from those boats who enter the tournament before Sept. 14 will receive $325, which is the base tournament entry fee. If you do not register to enter the tournament by Sept. 14, registration will remain open through Oct. 3 at the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce, by mail or online at www.usopenkmt.com or onsite 10 a.m.-midnight Oct. 4 at Southport Marina.
