To the editor:
I’d like to share something with all of you
I won’t take too much of your time.
About a celebration I went to
And I left there feelin’ so fine.
I had no engraved invitation,
Just an invite from a friend.
I wasn’t charged any admission,
Just hugged, and asked, “Come on in.”
Turns out it’s a birthday party
Filled with good cheer and emotion.
So we clapped and sang “Happy Birthday”
Then vowed to the host our devotion.
Talk about lovely gifts galore,
I have never known the like.
Though they weren’t wrapped with paper and ribbon
To all they were a delight.
The musicians gave of their talent
And praised His name in song.
We all felt our spirits lifting
And were asked to sing along.
Refreshments filled our tummies.
Our souls overflowed with joy
At this birthday celebration
To honor this special boy.
The host of this party is no longer a child,
But is now an exalted king.
That’s why we celebrate Christmas,
And harken to bells as they ring.
No, I won’t forget that party
Or our gifts of adoration.
How we honored Christ on His birthday
And hailed Him the king of all nations.
According to fashion and modern decree,
Not the social event of the year.
But I know that our efforts touched Jesus,
For we all felt his presence there.
