The 32nd annual North Carolina Oyster Festival gets under way Saturday at Ocean Isle Beach.
The family-friendly event draws large crowds each year, so much so that people must be shuttled on and off the island, which has limited parking spaces available.
Whether you’re there to enjoy oysters or you just want to kick back and relax and listen to great music, you’ll find there is plenty to do all weekend.
The festival takes place rain or shine and admission is $5 per person. Children 5 and younger can get in free. There are no advance ticket sales, just pay for admission when you show up.
Activities get under way at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, and will continue through 6 p.m. The fun starts over again at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, with events winding down at 5 p.m.
Casey James, who placed third in season nine of “American Idol,” will be the entertainment headliner. He takes the stage from 4-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
Several other local and regional bands will perform throughout the day Saturday and Sunday.
