According to N.C. State Highway Patrol 1st Sgt. A. E. Morris, around 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, Julius Drake Lewis, 53, of Shell Landing Road, Supply, was killed after he was hit by a vehicle driven by Steven Paul Stepka, of Shallotte, near the intersection of Gray Bridge and Tar Landing roads.
No charges have been field, Morris said. Morris said alcohol did not appear to be a contributing factor for the driver.
A two-vehicle collision with minor injuries also occurred around 3:30 p.m. Dec. 31.
According to Morris, Chadwick Anderson Woodall, 23, of 1385 Longleaf Drive, Southport, was driving south on N.C. 133 less than one mile from Southport.
Woodall ran off the road to the right, overcorrected to the left and lost control of the Mazda passenger vehicle, colliding with a vehicle driven by Christopher Andrew Albertson, 32, of Wilmington, Morris said.
Morris said Woodall’s passenger was treated for minor injuries and released.
Woodall was cited for failure to maintain vehicle control.
