Penalties, turnovers cost Cougars game

By Staff Brunswick Beacon

WILMINGTON—Nine penalties for 97 yards and four turnovers were the reason for the South Brunswick Cougar 28-14 loss to the Ashley Screaming Eagles Friday night.

A rain-soaked field and the end zone lights going out with fewer than 2 minutes remaining before halftime made for strange field conditions, which affected both teams.

The Eagles prevailed on the strong throwing of senior quarterback Zach Finnegan, who threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns, two of those caught by wide receiver Jordan Brekke.
