Planning board approves map amendment, special exceptions

BOLIVIA—Members of the Brunswick County Planning Board on Monday approved one map amendment and two special exceptions.

Board members recommending approving map amendment Z-633 to county commissioners for their approval. The map amendment is a request to rezone 1.7 acres on N.C. 211 in Supply to commercial low density from its current zone of commercial intensive.

Board members also approved Summerwind major subdivision on Zion Hill Road. With the board’s approval, Summerwind will consist of 85 single-family lots on 40 acres, with an overall density of 2.1 units per acre.

A planned unit development was approved for No. 5 Schoolhouse Road in Ash. Brunswick Plantation Consolidation planned unit development was approved as a mixed-use planned unit development with 1,949 single-family lots and 3,417 multi-family units on 1,438 acres, which creates an overall density of 3.73 units per acre.

The consolidation allows a modification to the Rich Square section of Brunswick Plantation, providing a 1.85-acre expansion of the commercial area and a conversion of 14 single-family lots into 300 multi-family units.
