Planning board approves UDO amendments

BOLIVIA—Members of the Brunswick County Planning Board on Monday approved text amendments to the county’s Unified Development Ordinance.

Board members approved forwarded the following amendments to county commissioners for their final approval:

•To amend the summary of notice and public hearing requirements for appeal of administrative decisions and nonconforming use certificates.

•To require the recordation of a special exception permit prior to review of final plats.

•To amend the deadline for the application of an appeal of an administrative decision shall be filed within 30 days of issuance of decision.

•To amend notice procedures for nonconforming use certificate applications.

•To amend the design standards for Type II and III private roads.

•To amend nonconforming use certificates and appeal procedures.

Board members voted to table an amendment, which would amend the UDO to add development review criteria for asphalt manufacturing operations and concrete, cut stone and clay products manufacturing and processing operations until planning board members could have a workshop with asphalt industry officials.

Board members also voted to conditionally approved an extension request for Eagle Creek planned unit development.
