The renowned Raleigh Ringers are coming to Sunset Beach to perform in concert Saturday, Aug. 25.
The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of Seaside United Methodist Church, 1300 Seaside Road (N.C. 904).
Tickets are $15 and available through the church office or online at www.seasideumc.org. Tickets will also be available at the door.
This internally acclaimed, Raleigh-based handbell choir was formed in 1990, has toured 44 states in concert and has also appeared in France. The group has more than 300 percussion and bell types, including seven octaves of handbells.
Since their founding in 1990, The Raleigh Ringers have been dazzling concert audiences with unique interpretations of sacred, secular and popular music, including famous rock ‘n’ roll tunes like “Stairway to Heaven” arranged just for handbells.
Directed by David M. Harris, The Raleigh Ringers have released five CDs and a DVD of a holiday concert titled “One Winter Evening at Meymandi.” This concert was turned into two one-hour concert specials that have been broadcast on more than 250 Public Television stations in 45 states.
The group has performed in 36 states, in several cities in France, live on the nationally syndicated “Bob and Tom Show” radio show, and on the “Hour of Power” at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Calif. The Raleigh Ringers sponsor two annual handbell festivals in Raleigh, one geared for children and one for adults.
The Raleigh Ringers support themselves through performance fees and
merchandise sales, including its CDs, DVDs and Tie-Dyed gloves.
