Trinity UMC sets Jan. 20 service
“Renewing My Mind,” based on scripture from Romans 12:1-2, will be the title of the Rev. Jeff Roberts’ and associate pastor Michelle Sabin’s sermons on Sunday, Jan. 20, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 209 E. Nash St. in Southport.
Traditional worship services will be at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, and at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in Murrow Hall, with music led by Worship, the praise band. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30 a.m. and
11 a.m. Childcare is available at all services.

Church series focuses on end-of-life issues
St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Shallotte will begin offering a series of seminars designed to help people prepare for the transition into end-of-life issues and concerns. It will be in Bliss Hall at the church. The public is invited.
This pre-planning will assist families in knowing the wishes of loved ones.
The series will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16. This session will focus on legal issues: wills, estates, living wills, advanced directives and power of attorney.
Three additional sessions will be from 3-4 p.m. The Jan.23 session will discuss organ donation and funeral home directions; the Jan. 30 session concerns hospice services; and the final session on Feb. 6 will be about planning a church burial/memorial service.
