Church plans fundraiser
New Life Baptist Church, 5420 Ocean Hwy. E. in Winnabow, will have a barbecue chicken/pork chop fundraiser from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.
Barbecue chicken and pork chops plates will include green beans or baked beans, potato salad, roll and dessert.
Spaghetti dinner set for Sept. 24
Calabash Presbyterian Church will have its fifth annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, in the fellowship hall.
The menu will include spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, brownies and rolls. Beverages will be provided for those eating in the dining hall. Tickets, $7 for adults and $3 for children, are available from any committee member or by calling church office at 579-7356. Take-outs will be available.
Church plans conference
Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2000 Zion Hill Road in Bolivia, will host Women in Red Woman’s Conference at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. The theme will be “The Fragrance of His Beauty...let’s empower one another and smell the fragrance of His beauty together.”
Guest minister will be elder Marie Griffin of New Hope Freewill in Leland. Testimony will also be given by Edith Alvarez.
Alzheimer’s group to meet
The North Strand Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Summit Place, 491 U.S. 17 in Little River, S.C.

Colonial Dames to meet Sept. 17
The North Carolina Society of Colonial Dames XVIII Century will meet at 11 a.m. Sept. 17 at the Plantation Grille at Carolina National Golf Club in Winding River Plantation, 1649 Goley Hewett Road SE in Bolivia.

GE Retirees meet Sept. 15
GE Retirees Association will meet at noon on Sept. 15 at the New Hanover County Senior Center, 2222 South College Road in Wilmington. This meeting is open to all GE retirees and spouses. Lunch is $7.

Boating course
is Sept. 19
