Church plans fall festival
Brunswick Island Baptist Church, 1672 Mount Pisgah Road, Supply, will have a fall festival from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.
There will be a dunk tank, a rock wall, inflatables, midway games, free cotton candy and hot dogs. Several bands will perform throughout the afternoon and the youth group will have a fundraising bake sale.

Faith Baptist plans homecoming
The pastor and members of Faith Baptist Church, 4455 Ocean Hwy. in Bolivia, invite
everyone to join them as the Hayes Family from Boone celebrates their homecoming at 10:45 a.m. Oct. 2. Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall following the
morning message in song.

Fundraiser features gospel concert
Von Ferguson and Friends will perform at the second annual OES scholarship fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Shallotte Masonic Temple/Lodge. The friends are The Loflines and Gospel B, well known throughout the area for their country gospel music.
Donations received from the sale of tickets will benefit the Grand Chapter Scholarship Fund and the ESTARL Fund, as well as Ways and Means of the chapter. Both scholarship funds aid children in attending an institution of higher learning who otherwise might not be able to go to college.
Applications can be obtained from Helen Price, Worthy Matron of Brunswick Chapter No 341, OES. For ticket information, ask any member of the Order of the Eastern Star including Ouida Hewett, chairman of the ESTARL committee, or call 842-6017.

Church to offer naturalization class in September
Any lawful permanent resident (a.k.a. green card holder) is welcome to join the naturalization class at St. Brendan Church from 10:30-11:30 a.m. each Sunday from September to the end of May in the church office. There is no charge for the classes.
Classes will study the 100 questions in history and civics in preparation for the citizenship interview.

Trinity plans gospel sing
Trinity Baptist Church, 883 Holden Beach Road, will feature Jimmy Smith of Statesville at its fourth Sunday Night Gospel Singing event at 6 p.m. Sept. 25. Smith’s grandson, Evan Hoots, will also show his talent on banjo during the intermission break. Refreshments will follow the service.

Shrimparoo set at Dixon Chapel
Dixon Chapel United Methodist Church in Varnamtown will have its annual Shrimparoo from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.
Featured items will be a fried shrimp plate and soft shell crab plate. Cole slaw, hushpuppies, baked beans, dessert and choice of tea or coffee are included with both plates.
Adult plates are $10 and plates for children 10 and younger are $6.

Lobster sale is set for Oct. 15
St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church, 4941 Main St. in Shallotte, is having its annual lobster sale event beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.
Pre-order live, cooked or frozen lobster tails now. Call 754-9313 or stop by the church office. Last day to order is Friday, Oct. 7.
Live lobsters are $14 each; cooked lobster $15; 5-pound frozen tails $120; and 10-pound frozen tails $240.

Trinity UMC sets Sunday services
“Where Do We Go From Here?” will be the title of the Rev. Jeff Roberts’ and associate pastor Michelle Sabin’s sermon on Sunday, Sept. 25, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 209 E. Nash St.
in Southport. This will be the third in a series of sermons titled “Need Direction?”
Four worship services will be available: a casual service at 8 a.m., contemporary service at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and a traditional service at 11 a.m. The 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services in Murrow Hall will have music by Promise, the Trinity worship band.
Nursery care is provided at all services. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30 and 11 a.m. and children’s church is at 11 a.m.

The Rev. Nathaniel Devlin of Pittsburgh, Pa., will be the guest minister at the Ocean Isle Beach Chapel on Third Street service at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 25. A nursery is available.
Fall revival begins Sept. 21
Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church of Sunset Beach will have its fall revival Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Sept. 21-23, at 7 p.m. nightly. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Timothy Patrick of Longs, S.C. All are invited.

Methodists inspire with seminars
A multi-church gathering and community outreach event is planned for Oct. 27-29 at Little River UMC Life Center, 1629 U.S. 17 N. in Little River, S.C. This event is being hosted by Little River United Methodist Church, Waterbrook Community Church and Trinity United Methodist Church.
Special guest teacher Scott Schuler of Oxford will present the following seminars: “Power Unveiled in Praise and Worship” and “Walking With Jesus on the Narrow Path” to inspire, equip and encourage believers of Jesus, as well as to reach out to the community with the hope, love and truth of Jesus.
Oct. 27 from 6-9:15 p.m.: Power Unveiled in Praise and Worship Seminar. Its purpose is to encourage and promote spiritual growth through an intense Scriptural study to reveal the power and passion of Christ-focused praise and worship. Worship leaders and music leaders are especially encouraged to attend.
Oct. 28 from 6-7:30 p.m: Leadership/Facilitator Training for Seminar Follow-up Series. Its purpose is to prepare prior attendees of the “Walking with Jesus” seminar to become facilitators for a six-week extended study for the “Walking with Jesus” seminar in their local church. Those attending this session will be provided the necessary tools and teaching materials to lead the six-week study to further instill a deeper understanding of being an active follower of Jesus Christ.
Oct. 29 from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Walking With Jesus on the Narrow Path. The purpose of this seminar is to encourage passion and purpose for followers of Jesus and to provide an opportunity for community churches to come together as Christ’s hands and feet. The seminar will provide an avenue for harmony and accord between area churches and the community through inspiring and powerful teaching.
Seminar sessions will provide insight into: Your enemy and his plans and schemes; Yourself and how your decisions will encourage or discourage your faith and direction in life; and Your God and how His love and power brings passion and purpose in life.
