Oyster roast is Nov. 5
Nothing is better on a cool day than hot roasted oysters, hot cornbread, pickles and a cold soda. Bring yourself over to Dixon Chapel United Methodist Church, 190 Varnamtown Road near Holden Beach, from noon-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.
Oyster roast is $20 for adults, $8 for children. Fish plates are $10 adults, $5 children. Enjoy hot dogs, soft drinks, homemade baked goods and crafts. Bring your own knife and any special sauces you like. No coolers permitted.

Service set for Nov. 6
“What Do Others See?” will be the title of the Rev. Jeff Roberts’ and associate pastor Michelle Sabin’s sermon on Sunday, Nov. 6, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 209 E. Nash St. in Southport. It will be based on scripture from Hebrews 12:1-2. Communion will be served and All Saints Day will be celebrated.
Four worship services will be available: a casual service at 8 a.m., contemporary services at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and a traditional service at 11 a.m. The 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services in Murrow Hall will have music by Promise, the Trinity worship band.
Nursery care is provided at all services. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30 and 11 a.m. and children’s church is at 11 a.m. For more information, call 457-6633.
Singers named for Sons of God anniversary
Come out and help lift up the name of Jesus during the Sons of God anniversary at
5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Snowfield.
The event will feature Reginald Vereen, Andrew McCracken, Keon Harrison, Ian Davis, Taraus Deas and the M&R Singers of Hampstead. Refreshments will be served following services. Contact Taraus Deas at 398-2570 for more information.
Church will discuss women in the Bible
Crystal Spring Missionary Baptist Church’s Missionary Auxiliary will host a missionary sacrificial benefit at 3 p.m. Saturday,
Several outstanding missionaries from neighboring community churches will be speaking on “Women of the Bible.”

Winter clothing is available
Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2000 Zion Hill Road in Bolivia, will have a winter clothing giveaway from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. Help someone this winter by bringing what you don’t need, and taking everything that you do need.
Hear gospel music Nov. 13
Emmanuel Outreach Church, 2360 Russtown Road in Ash, will present an evening of Southern gospel music with the Glorybound Quartet from Bladenboro at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13. There is no admission charge. For directions or more information, call 287-5787.
Fall festival includes yard sale
The annual fall festival of Trinity United Methodist Church, on the corner of Nash and Atlantic in Southport, will be from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.
The day will begin with a yard sale sponsored by United Methodist Youth Fellowship on the lawn. A hot breakfast and coffee will be served in Murrow Hall.
Inside, the feature of the day will be the cookie walk, where homemade holiday cookies can be purchased by the pound.
The bake sale will allow everyone to stock up on pies, breads, pound cake, muffins, coffee cake, cupcakes, brownies and candy in time for the approaching holidays. The New-to-You Jewelry Boutique will feature rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and watches. Gift items will also be available.
Hand-clapping, foot-stomping music will be provided by P.D. Midgett, a former Trinity pastor. There will also be the opportunity to own two handmade quilts.
From 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m, a luncheon of chili and cornbread will be featured. All proceeds will benefit mission projects for women and children.
Fall revival features Powell
Oak Grove Baptist Church in Holden Beach will have a fall revival beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6. Services on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 7-9, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Rev. Kyle Powell will be the guest speaker. There will be special singing nightly. Everyone is invited.
