Church plans giving market

Calabash Presbyterian Church on Georgetown Road in Calabash will host its annual Alternative Giving Market from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, and from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21.

Buy a gift of a farm animal such as a yak or a goat or a flock of chickens to provide a renewable food supply, or help a child by giving them the chance they need in a third-world country.

Learn how sponsoring programs like these can provide food and income or meet critical medical and sanitary needs in poverty-stricken areas throughout the world. These programs are sponsored by Heifer International, World Vision (Adopt a Child) and seven Brunswick County charities.

Give the world a present as an alternative gift this year. There are also fair trade items and arts and crafts from Ten Thousand Villages.

For more information, call the church at 579-7356.
