Cantata set for Dec. 12

Calvary Baptist Church’s adult choir, under the direction of Kelly Page, will present its Christmas cantata, “The First Noel: A King is Born,” at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 12.

At 6 p.m. the children and youth will continue the Christmas celebration with music and drama, followed by a repeat performance of the Christmas cantata by the adult choir. Refreshments will be served following the evening performance.

Church plans Christmas dinner

Ocean View Baptist Church will have its Christmas Dinner Theater from Dec. 9-12. Tickets are $20 per person.

Trinity sets Dec. 12 services

On Sunday, Dec. 12, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 209 E. Nash St. in Southport, the Rev. Michelle Sabin’s sermon on the third Sunday of Advent will be “What Song Will You Sing?” based on scripture from Luke 1:26-38, 46-56.

The 8 a.m. casual service and the 11 a.m. traditional service will be in the sanctuary. Worship, the Trinity praise team, will lead the contemporary service at 9:30 a.m. in Murrow Hall. The Joy Ringers handbell group will play at the 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. services.

Childcare and children’s church will be available during all worship services. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Church quilt winners named

United Methodist Women of Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport have announced the winners of the quilt raffle at their recent fall festival.

Carolyn Williams of Southport was the winner of the Christmas quilt; Mary Waugh of Oak Island now owns the Log Cabin quilt; and Madison Pratt of Atlanta, Ga., was the winner of the Wedding Ring-pattern baby quilt. All proceeds of the fall festival more than $2,500 will be used for missions for women and children. 

Gospel jubilee set for Dec. 10

Trinity Baptist Church, 883 Holden Beach Road in Shallotte, will host the Winnabow Gospel Jubilee beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10. This is a free event.

Zion Hill plans services

Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2000 Zion Hill Road in Bolivia, will have services, “Home For The Holidays,” at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 12.

The Rev. William L. Smith of Burgaw will be guest speaker. The Zion Hill male chorus will render musical services. The youth department will host a Christmas dinner following services

On Sunday, Dec. 19, the Rev. Rodney Gore of Union Mission Missionary Baptist Church in Green Sea, S.C., will be the guest speaker at the 11:30 a.m. services.

The Zion Hill adult choir will render musical services.

Grace MBC plans services

Grace Missionary Baptist Church, 340 Mulberry St. in Shallotte, has Sunday school at 10 a.m. and Sunday morning worship at 11 a.m.

Wednesday evening services begin at 7 p.m. Pastor is Larry Milliken.
