Fall festival is Oct. 20
Sonrise Baptist Church, 8375 River Road SE in Southport, will have its fall festival from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. It will be a day of fun for the whole family, filled with games, prizes, food, hayrides, a cakewalk and a moonwalk with a slide.
Bethel homecoming planned for Oct. 14
Bethel United Methodist Church in Bolivia will have its annual homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 14, beginning with special services and music at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mark Murphy is pastor. Food and fellowship will follow the services.
‘Spirit of Little River’ book to launch Nov. 3
The Lightkeepers Sunday school class at Little River United Methodist Church is hosting a launch party for “The Spirit of Little River,” a book about the history of the Little River community, its churches, golf courses and its people, from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov.3, at C.B. Berry Community and Historical Center, 2250 S.C. 179 in Little River, S.C.
The coffee table book, a pictorial history of the Little River area, was written and complied by a host of church families and many Little River residents. All the churches in Little River area are recognized. The book was created as a fundraiser with proceeds going towards the church’s Life Center.
The celebration will include door prizes, refreshments, music and a variety of hors d’oeuvres. “The Spirit of Little River” books will be on sale for $25 each (discounts for quantities).

Homecoming set for Oct. 21
Friendship Baptist Church on Ash-Little River Road in Ash will celebrate homecoming at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. Special music and dinner served following services.

Spaghetti and hot dog dinner set for Oct. 12
The Women’s Day committee at Mount Calvary AME Church, 325 Main St. in Navassa, is hosting a spaghetti and hot dog dinner sale from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12.
The cost of the spaghetti dinner is $6 and includes salad and garlic bread. Drinks are available at an additional cost of $1.
The cost of the hot dog dinner is $5 and includes chips and a drink. Desserts may be purchased at an additional cost of $1.

Season’s banquet to have speakers, food
Mount Calvary AME Church, 325 Main St. in Leland, will host a season’s banquet beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. There will be dynamic speakers with a word from the Lord. Enjoy food from each season, door prizes and more. Everyone is welcome.

Randy Ward to sing on Oct. 14
Gospel on Wheels’ Randy Ward, the man in the wheelchair singing for Jesus, will be featured at a gospel sing at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at Emmanuel Church, 2360 Russtown Road.
