BOLIVIA—Brunswick County Commissioners on Monday approved a school resource officer for Roger Bacon Academy.

The county approved a $70,000 appropriation for the school resource officer, for which the academy would reimburse the county.

The school resource officer would also be trained as a DARE officer. With the approval the academy also agreed to a four-year contract with annual salary and benefit increases established by county administration.

In other business, commissioners:

•Approved a lease renewal for the EMS base 1, 1595 Clover Lane, Supply. The lease agreement extends the county’s contract for the EMS base for three years. The county has funded $15,000 in renovations to the base since 2005, EMS director Brian Watts said. The lease is for $500 per month.

•Approved recommendations from the county’s space needs committee for office and workspace assignments for space created when county administration employees move into the county’s new David Sandifer Administration Building.

County manager Marty Lawing told commissioners all department heads were given the opportunity to request additional space in buildings E, G, H and I, which would be vacated when the new administration building opens.
