Roger Bacon cheerleaders win in national meet

-A A +A

Staff report

The Roger Bacon Academy Vikings cheerleaders once again have won at the Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championship, which took place recently at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Fla.
This year the Vikings sent three competitive cheer teams to Disney. For the first time, the Vikings entered the two older squads in the advanced division, placing their teams in the most challenging and difficult competition possible. This division involves the highest level of tumbling and stunting. The Vikings won a championship and missed a second by less than one point.
By the end of the event, RBA had placed first in the peewee division, second in the midget division and fourth in the junior peewee division.
“This was our most successful season ever,” RBA Vikings’ coach and cheer director Jean LaFave said. “I couldn’t be prouder of all of our teams.”
The RBA Viking cheerleaders have qualified 19 teams in eight years to compete on the national stage.
