Rotary speakers talk about exchange program

-A A +A

Each year, Rotary International sponsors Group Study Exchanges (GSE) around the world as a cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for business people and professionals that are in the early stages of their careers and are between the ages of 25 and 40.

Rotary District 7730 (eastern North Carolina and southeastern Virginia) is sponsoring a GSE team to Uruguay in April 2011 and South Brunswick Islands Rotarian Martha Warner has been selected by Rotary District 7730 to be the Rotarian leader of the four to six GSE member team.

The SBI Rotary is also sponsoring Trey Milligan of Ash, son of Cray and Wendy Milligan of Ocean Island Beach, as a Group Study Exchange team member. Milligan is a 2008 graduate of North Carolina State University and is owner of Real Green Turf. He also handles the day-to-day operations for his family’s farming operation. GSE team members are non-Rotarians and Milligan is the first team member to be sponsored by the South Brunswick Islands Rotary Club.

The Rotary Group Study Exchange team will visit in Uruguay for about four weeks and experience the host country’s culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced, exchange ideas and develop personal and professional relationships. Lodging, meals and travel in the host country are provided by the local Rotary clubs.
