The switch back to a traditional start schedule for Brunswick County Schools will cost the district more than $1.5 million in the upcoming school year, according to an impact statement released by the school system.

At the board’s finance committee meeting May 20, finance director Freyja Cahill and transportation director Bobby Taylor presented data about the cost of returning to a traditional schedule.

The change in schedule would cost the district more than $1.75 million in 2014-15 and almost $900,000 the following year.
