Beachcombers
The Beachcombers played a 1-2-3 tournament at Eagle Nest on Friday, July 27. The winners with a score of 102 (-34) were Dan O’Connell, Ed Nocella, Russ Russo and Stu Cleveland.
In second place with a 107 (-29) were Gary Gutheil, Jim Beairsto, Bob Brownley and Bob Smith. Low gross for the day were Russ Russo, 80; Gary Gutheil, 82; Sid Silver, 83; Dan O’Connell, 84; and Bob Smith, 89. Low nets were Russ Russo, 62; Dan O’Connell, 63; Sid Silver, 64; Gary Gutheil, 65; Bob Brownley and Bob Smith, 67; and Tom Culverwell and Stu Cleveland, 69. Russo was voted golfer of the week.

Brierwood BMGA
On Thursday, June 28, the Brierwood BMGA’s game counted two best net balls, one of which had to be used from a predetermined player on each hole. First place with a score of -13 went to Dave Harper, Tom Kronyak and Ron Arvidson. Second place with a -9 went to Gary McDaniels, Bernie Gruzlewski and Les Craft.
On Thursday, July 12, playing the same game, first place went to Larry Boyer, Gary McDaniels, Bernie Gruzlewski and Ron Arfidson with a score of -24. Second place went to Mike Prokop, Tom Kronyak, Jim Pope and Chuck Hornfeck with a -21.
On Thursday, July 19, counting two best balls on the front nine and three best balls on the back nine, first place went to the team of Mike Prokop, Bernie Gruzlewski, Gary McDaniels and Tom Kronyak. Second place went to Larry Boyer, Dave Harper, Jim Pope and Ron Arvidson.
On Monday, July 23, counting two best balls, one gross and one net, with a -13, the first-place team was Larry Boyer, Gary McDaniels, Bob Janovic and Randy Milazzo. Second place with a -9 went to Bob Nobes, Tom Arney, Ron Arvidson and Les Craft.

Brierwood WGA
The Brierwood WGA played its weekly game on July 24. The format was low gross-low net. First place was Mona Boob with a gross score of 75. Tied for low net were Nancy Kumlin and Sue Janovic with 69. Birdies were Mona Boob on No. 7 and No. 16, Nancy Kumlin on No. 2 and Sue Janovic on No. 14.

Brunswick Plantation MGA

Results of the July 25 Calabash Elks Golf League match at Carolina Shores. In the A Flight, Bill Malloy and Russ Russo were first with a 68. In the B Flight, Jim Barker was first with a 61. In the C Flight, Bob Schuster was first with a 65. Closest to the pin: On No. 3, Ted Acton, 11 feet. On No. 7, Herb Johnson, 7 feet 6 inches. On No. 12, Don Hunt, 7 feet 6 inches. The Carolina Bogey Busters played at The Valley in Eastport on July 24. Low gross, Flight A: first, Joe Burmer, 74; second, Bill Allen, 80; third, Ed Bier, 85. Low net, Flight A: first, Joe Burmer, 62; second, Bill Allen, 64; third, Dick Wilson, 69, and Ed Bier, 69. Low gross, Flight B: first, Corbin Ledford, 86; second, Ron Watson, 92; third, Ralph Phillips, 69. Closet to the pin, No. 13, Flight A was Dick Wilson; Flight B was Ed Chapman. Low putts were Dick Wilson, 27; Corbin Ledford, 29; Sean Watson, 30; Bill Allen, 30; and Larry Frazier, 31.

Carolina Shores Niners
In the Carolina Shores Low Gross/Low Net Tournament on July 19, Charlene Pietrondi was first low gross and Joan O’Neill was second in Flight A. Patricia Herdic and Rose Mary Jones were tied for first low net and Joan O’Neill was second. In Flight B, Joyce Dunn was first in both low gross and low net. Mary Fran Ryon was second gross and Mary Fran Ryan and Ellie Girard were tied for second low net. The game of the day was Deduct Even Holes: Rose Mary Jones was first, and Charlene Pietrondi and Joan O’Neill were tied for second. Halla Cramer had a chip-in on No. 5 and birds were made by Joan O’Neill on No. 3 and Rose Mary Jones on No. 7.
In the Carolina Shores low gross/low net tournament on July 26, Char Pietrondi was first low gross and Violet Collins was second in Flight A. Rose Mary Jones was first low net and Violet Collins was second low net. In Flight B, Ellie Girard was both first low gross and first low net. Margie Petterson was both second low gross and second low net.

CFAG
On Monday, July 23, at Brick Landing, Jim Kennedy, Sid Pennington, Steve Maiorca and John Methvin placed first with 139. Format for the day was cha-cha-cha. The team of Pete Scott, Jody Serensits, John Ducey and Joe Gallo placed second.
On Wednesday, July 25, at Leopard’s Chase, Jin Kennedy, Karl Pettersen, Sid Pennington and John Ducey placed first with 133. Teams scored two nets per hole. Placing second was the team of Pete Scott, Jody Serensits, steve Maiorca and Joe Gallo.
On Friday, July 27, at Heather Glen, Jim Kennedy, Steve Maiorca and John Ducey placed first with 143. The three-man teams scored two nets on par three holes, a gross and net on all others. Pete Scott, Sid Pennington and John Methvin placed second.

Crow Creek Ladies

Grand Strand MGA
The Grand Strand Senior Men’s Golf Association played its weekly event on July 23 at the International Club in Murrells Inlet, S.C. The format was stroke play with handicap. Each flight was awarded a low-gross and low-net winner. Nintey-nine golfers participated in five flights, A from the White tees and B thru E from the Gold tees with Super Seniors from the Red tees. Closest-to-the-pins were awarded for White and Gold tees. The following are the winners for this week: A flight: Jim Corcoran (76 gross), Tony Giresi (65 net); B flight: Curt Miel (81 gross), Frank Hess (68 net); C flight: Gerry Koy (86 gross), Jerry Nadley (68 net); D flight: Jim Murnane (91 gross), Harold Puckett (68 net); and E flight: Bob Cantwell (96 gross) and Bruce Thompson (67 net). Friday Rebels and Sandpiper Bay MGA
On Friday, July 27, it was a Chicago day: subtract your handicap from 36 to establish a goal score. Get one point for bogie, two for par, four for birdie, and eight for anything better than birdie. Beat your goal was the name of the game.
The game was at the Bay to Sand Course with the following results: first place, tie, at +9, Tom Townsend and Don Moore. Second place, Harvey Stratton, +8. Third place, tie, at +6, Dean Montgomery and John Hannigan.
Closest to the pin winners: No. 5 Bay, Al Paynter; No. 6 Sand, John Radziewski.
On Monday, July 23, Sandpiper Bay MGA play was count two best balls on the first three holes, three on the next three and all four on the final three, repeat for second nine holes.
In the Sand to Piper Flight: Lead by Bob Knisley’s even par 71 his team took first place with a -22. Also on Bob-s team were Jim Creighton, John Hannigan and Bill Pohlman.
Second place went to Al Bowman, Don DeMore, Dick Eby and a blind that scored a -20.
Third was a -10 by JJ Whalen, Doug Williams, Bob Hamlin and Frank Martorelli.
In the Piper to Bay Flight: John Donnelly, Jack Hinte, Gary Pollack and a blind won first with a -27.  Second place went to Al Hooker, Ralph Bowman, Greg Scalzi and Chuck Maglio with a -23. Third place was a -18 by Don Moore, Walt Perron, Ed McTighe and Al Paynter.

Format was teams earn one point for each person with a drive in the fairway, one point for reaching green in regulation, one point for one-putts and one putt for chip-ins. First Place: 75 points, Patsy Mays, Lorraine Crosby, Kathy Giancarlo and Joyce Edwards. Second place, 60 points, Doris McLaughlin, Colleen Plebanek, Bev Furman and Lori Bonnington.
