The Beachcombers played a three nets tournament Friday at Cypress Bay The winners with a score of 186 (-30) were Ed Hennessey, Paul Michal, Roger Dunham, Dan O’Connell and Hal Riebesehl. In second at 190 (-29) were Sid Silver, Bill Cameron, Tom Culverwell and Fred Ortiz. Low rounds: Hal Riebesehl 85, Reese Evans, Paul Michal, Tom Culverwell and Bob Byrne 86, Jim Ritter 88 and Dan O’Connell 89. Hal Riebesehl was voted golfer of the week for his 85, which is two strokes fewer than his age.

Results Sept. 24, playing a Stableford match. The team of Bob Nobes, Gary McDaniel, Mike Prokop and Dave Harper came in first at 106. Two teams tied for second at 98: the team of Butch Viars, Bernie Gruzlewski, Paul Salerno and a player by draw; and the team of Dan Perry, George Edwards, Chuck Hornfeck and Ron Arvidson.

BWGA results for Sept. 11, crossover game using one-half handicaps. Flight A winner at net 28 was Sarah Baynton. Second was Sue Janovic at 33. Flight B winner with a score of 30 was Carol Fitz-Gerald. Second was Jean Billie at 34. Sue Janovic also had a birdie chip-in at No. 6. Sarah Baynton of flight A had the fewest putts, 31. In flight B, Marianne Nobes had 39 putts.
On Sept. 25, playing substituting par for any one hole front and back, in flight A Nancy Kumlin was first with a net 66 and second at 70 was Mickey Salerno. In the Carolinas Golf Association’s senior four-ball tournament Sept. 25 at Boone Golf Club, in Boone, Jimmy Trotter, Sunset Beach, and Jim Eskridge, Greensboro, won super senior flight C by shooting 31-35—66. In flight A, Lanny Correll Sr., Pawleys Island, S.C., and Steve Denney, Shallotte, finished fourth by shooting 34-37—71.
