Scorpions win twice in softball playoffs, reach third round

 The North Brunswick softball team beat Red Springs 13-2 May 13 in a first-round game of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association class 2A state playoffs.


North finished with seven hits and eight walks.

Kasey Klutz was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Shenice Harrison was 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI. Preston Ellenberg was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Stacy Fodrie was 1-for-2. Summer White was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Macey Bordeaux was 1-for-2 with a double. Valerie Renna had one RBI.

Ellenberg was the winning pitcher, giving up two hits and two unearned runs in five innings. She walked one and struck out seven.

The Scorpions beat Graham 9-1 Friday, May 16, improving to 18-5 advancing to a third-round Tuesday, May 20, at South Columbus (19-7).
