Senior center plan explained

To the editor: The letter from S.C. Scherer in The Brunswick Beacon on May 29 concerning the construction of a senior program facility in Southport deserves my response.

The proposed building in Southport, about which concern was raised, is the first step in providing facilities for senior citizen programs on five locations within Brunswick County.

It will be followed by similar buildings in Calabash, Ocean Isle, Leland, Shallotte and Supply.
