The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.


Dec. 31

Mark Douglas Jones, 53, 14 Birch Pond Drive, Shallotte, charged with four counts of felony embezzlement/larceny by an employee from Walmart. He worked in loss prevention.

Larceny of a cellular phone on Owendon Drive.

Embezzlement/larceny by an employee; suspect stole items including an iPad, portable DVD player, an HD device, a tool set and a memory card from Walmart.


Jan. 1

Larceny and breaking and entering on Columbus Street, Shallotte; suspect stole a blower from the victim’s property.


Jan. 2

Larceny of a watch on Main Street; suspect removed property from the victim’s possession.

Shoplifting, conspiracy and trespassing at Walmart; suspect was observed on video cameras stealing a Blu-ray home theater and a 26-inch LCD TV.

Counterfeit currency at Walmart; customer used a counterfeit $5 bill.


Jan. 4

Alvin Lee Harris, 49, 4314 Village Court, Morehead City, charged with felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Larceny, breaking and entering and vandalism at the ATMC cable yard; suspect cut a hole in the fence and removed cable wire. 

Larceny of kerosene at the Minuteman Express on Holden Beach Road; suspect pumped kerosene and left the business without paying for it.


Jan. 5

Credit card fraud at Walgreens; suspect used stolen card to make purchases.

Kimberly Nichole Ayscue, 38, 3733 Hillcrest Drive, Raliegh, charged with stealing from Office Depot.


Jan. 7

Breaking and entering and larceny from a vehicle on Paisley Drive; suspect entered victim’s vehicle and removed $350 cash and a digital camera.
