Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

•Police charged Dean Michael Newman, 19, of 728 Magnolia Drive, Sunset Beach, with three counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny from a coin-operated machine and one count of vandalism/property damages. Newman admitted to breaking into the machines, and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office served the warrants against him. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center and placed on an $8,000 secured bond.

•Police charged Dorothy Mae Hill, 50, of 1038 Hale Swamp Road, SW, Shallotte, with driving while impaired. She was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $500 secured bond.

•Larceny by employee/embezzlement at Randy’s Meat Center; suspect removed $1,800 in cash and checks from an unlocked safe.

•Larceny at Belk at Shallotte Crossing; police apprehended and charged Tanya Renee Powers, 32, of 2306 Moore St., Supply, with larceny of a bank bag after she took the bag from behind the counter at the register.

•Forged prescription/fraud at CVS Pharmacy; suspect forged two prescriptions and presented them to a pharmacist. Suspect left pharmacy upon an investigating officer’s arrival.

•Larceny on Shallotte Avenue; suspect took a $750 troweling machine from victim’s truck.

•Larceny of shoes at The Shoe Depot at Shallotte Crossing; suspect took a $29.98 pair of shoes from store.

•Harassing telephone calls on Columbus Street; suspect called victim’s home phone and his sister’s cell phone making degrading comments.
