Deputies have arrested a Shallotte locksmith accused of committing sexual assault, according to a Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office news release.

David Rodriguez, 52, of Evans Circle SW, was arrested Thursday, March 27, on two counts of second-degree sexual assault in an incident that occurred the previous day.

Rodriguez “unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did engage in a sex offense” with a victim who was “at the time physically helpless,” arrest warrants show.

Rodriguez is the owner of Reasonable Lock & Key in Shallotte, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Emily Flax said.

Rodriguez is incarcerated at the Brunswick County Detention Facility under $100,000 bail.
