SHALLOTTE—The town planning board has recommended the board of aldermen approve annexing and rezoning a home in Wildwood Village and the final plat for Highland Forest Townhomes.

During the regular meeting Tuesday night, planning board members heard from town administrator Paul Sabiston that the owners of the Wildwood Village property, Jose and Laura Segarra, requested annexation of their property on Squirrel Avenue because they need water.

Board members agreed annexing and rezoning the property from county RA-15 to the town’s R-10 zone was keeping with town ordinances.

Planning board members also voted unanimously to recommend approval of the final plat for Highland Forest Townhomes in the Highlands subdivision. The preliminary plat was approved in 2006, Sabiston said.

At Sabiston’s request, the board voted to recommend approval to the board of aldermen with the provision the developer provide a bond if all the work is not completed by the time the aldermen are scheduled to vote on the matter.

Planning board member Bobby Lewis made the motion including a directive to work with the town utilities director to make sure the water pressure was sufficient in the subdivision.
