Shallotte police raid alleged video gambling site

Shallotte Police served a warrant on a computer/Internet store on Holden Beach Road suspected of possessing video gambling machines last week, seizing nearly $5,000 and ordering the manager to appear in court.

Police issued a search warrant at Shallotte Business Center on Tuesday, March 4, after receiving anonymous tips from the public that it might be a site of illegal gambling. They seized $4,924 in cash and issued a citation to appear in court to manager Patricia Mary Westerman of Carolina Shores.
