Hope Simmons was back in her position as anchor of the defense and with the help of Amity Croft, Nicole Gibbs, Madeline Jackson and Robin Wood, they were able to keep play on the offensive side of the field for much of the game. Cailin Baldwin was goalie for most of the game and is unscored upon for the season.
The Crossfire is an underage team that has dominated in the Cape Fear Soccer League and is playing up a division in the Pleasure Island Soccer Association, looking to test its skills.
“The Crossfire is well coached and have a ton of talent,” Shock coach Mark Giordano said. “We didn’t take them lightly for one second.
“The Crossfire have good speed, pass the ball well, and play hard the whole game. I am sure we will see this team again in the playoffs.”
