Silver Coast Winery won three medals in the 32nd International Eastern Wine Competition, which featured entries from 38 states, three Canadian provinces and 13 countries, according to a news release.

Its new wines, Calabash White and Calabash Red, just released to the public at the end of February, each received a bronze medal.

“The Calabash wines are exciting because they are great wines at a great price, something you can put on your table every night and not break the bank,” said Maryann Charlap-Azzato, winery owner and manager.

“We are excited that they are gaining national acclaim.”

The winery also won a bronze medal for its 2005 North Carolina Chardonnay.

All three of these award-winning wines and more can be tasted at the winery during a wine tasting.

Silver Coast Winery is a full winemaking facility housing an art gallery, gift shops, picnic grounds and monthly festivals.

The winery, which also hosts weddings and private and corporate parties, is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday for tours and tastings.
