JACKSONVILLE—The West Brunswick High School girls’ basketball team had a chance on Friday to distance itself from the two other 3A schools in the Mideastern 3A/4A Conference.
But instead of taking a two-game lead in the race for the league’s top 3A spot, West Brunswick suffered a 51-42 loss and left the Bird Cage in a dead heat with Jacksonville.
The Lady Cardinals took control of the game with 14 unanswered points in the first half. After West Brunswick battled back to grab the lead in the fourth quarter, the Lady Cardinals closed the game on a 16-6 run.
