SOUTH BRUNSWICK 9

SOUTH COLUMBUS 6

South Brunswick blasted two home runs on its way to a 9-6 win over South Columbus on April 2.

Ben Maggard hit a three-run homer in the third, while Johnathan Marvin slugged the Cougars’ other homer.

South led 5-1 after three but starting making errors and lost the lead.

“We made four errors in the fourth inning, and South Columbus took advantage of it,” South coach Lee Shelton said.

“Johnathan Marvin came back in the bottom of the fifth and hit a two-run home run to put us ahead. Then we were able to score two more runs.”

Marvin and Maggard each went 2-for-3 and Nick Spell and Edward McNeill 2-for-4 apiece.

“We made too many errors,” Shelton said. “However, we were able to make up for it with a good performance at the plate.

“Jake Morehouse pitched a great game. Ryan Waldrep pitched the sixth and seventh and was ‘on’ (with six strikeouts). This was a good conference win.”

South Brunswick is 3-1 in the conference and 6-7 overall.
