WILMINGTON—The South Brunswick High School swim teams won their final home meets of the season Saturday at the Wilmington YWCA.

Against Clinton, South’s boys won 10-of-11 events in a 67-22 victory. South’s girls also won 10-of-11 events in a 68-22 victory.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 1-A/2-A meet is Feb. 6-7 at the Willis Casey Natatorium at N.C. State University, and five Cougars have already qualified. Fifteen others have times that merit consideration for the state meet.

“Potentially, we have 20 swimmers going to represent South at the state meet,” coach Lucia Kincer said. “Definitely the most we have ever had.”

Those who had qualified before the dual Saturday with Clinton were Myles Williams, Cody Spencer, Elias Gilbert, Brian Atack and Brian Teemsma.

The Lady Cougars’ 200-yard medley relay of Mackenzie Jones, Claire Lane, Kirsten Hennessey and Samantha Pruitt qualified Saturday.

Against Clinton, Teemsma won the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 8.1 seconds) and the 500 freestyle (6:06). Myles Williams won the 200 individual medley (2:26.21) and the 100 freestyle (57.34).

South swept the relays. Cody Spencer, Edwards, Gilbert and Williams won the 200 medley in 1:59.06.

Cody Spencer, Will Spencer, Jonas Gilbert and Williams won the 200 freestyle in 1:42.81. And Stephen Seeber, Teemsma, Will Spencer and Jonas Gilbert won the 400 freestyle in 4:04.32.

In the girls events, Hennessey won the 50 freestyle (28.28) and the 100 freestyle (1:05.56). Jones won the 100 butterfly (1:12.68) and the 100 backstroke (1:16.95).
