Golf team wins Waccamaw opener

The South Brunswick High School boys’ golf team started its Waccamaw 1A/2A Conference season Monday with a convincing victory at Black Bear.

The Cougars ran their record to 6-0 by finishing 12 shots ahead of the competition.

Sophomore Dalton Gore took medalist honors with a 39 as the Cougars had 170 strokes, 12 better than Whiteville at 182. Host South Columbus was third at 202, followed by East Columbus at 213 and North Brunswick at 215.
