Southport Internal Medicine will host a community open house from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21.

The public can meet the group’s newest physician, Thomas Beckett, M.D., and tour the new office at 1456 Howe St., Suites 201 and 202, Southport.

The group moved to its new office in October 2007. Just a few blocks from the former office at 11 East 9th St., the new, larger office is across from Kerr Drug.

“Our new location is much larger and more up-to-date than our previous location,” said Douglas Hiltz, M.D., who is board certified in internal medicine. “We are excited to welcome the community to visit our new office.”

Hiltz has been working in Brunswick County for nearly 20 years.

Beckett, who is also board certified in internal medicine, joined him in December 2007. Beckett received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He then went on to receive his medical degree from the East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, and he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

“Southport is a wonderful community. I am enjoying getting to know the residents of this area, and I look forward to meeting many new people at our open house,” Beckett said.

Southport Internal Medicine, which is affiliated with Novant Medical Group, offers a full range of primary care services, including adult and senior care; preventive healthcare; care for acute and ongoing illness; annual physical exams; routine lab tests; and same-day sick appointments.

Light refreshments will be provided at the open house, and the first 100 attendees will receive a free first aid kit.
