Special operations report

The special operations team at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office includes the K-9 enforcement team and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team.

The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

From Dec. 24-30, special operations deputies set up checkpoints on N.C. 133, Mount Misery Road, Cherry Tree and the on ramp to U.S. 74.

The following suspects were charged:

Trevor Benton, 19, Riegelwood, possession of a half-ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jonas Moore, 26, Bolton, possession of a half-ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Juan Nuno, 25, Leland, possession of a half-ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Carl Markeith Powers Berkley, 19, Ash, possession of a half-ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nathan Posada, 29, Winnabow, DWI, blood alcohol content (BAC) .18.

Shelia Morris-Dennis, 53, Southport, DWI, BAC .15.

 Johnny Dale Vereen, 52, DWI BAC .08; no operator’s license.
